My mom started to have trouble breathing so we called an ambulance that took her to the hospital on Sept 11th. She tested positive for covid. By the time I was able to see her on the 12th, the things that she told me & what I saw were horrific. She was afraid for her life. She lasted only 24 hrs. I can tell you as a woman of God that this completely shook & rocked my faith. They gave her no water for 24 hrs, her lips were bleeding & had her maxed out on a bipap machine & were pushing us repeatedly to ventilate her but she didn’t want that & we didn’t believe she needed it.
They gave her Remdesiver, Morphine, Fentanyl & other drugs. They never told us they gave her morphine, SHE was the one who told me when I came back later that day. They dropped her off the bed while I was gone too & the bruises on her arm from them continually poking her with needles was horrible. They refused to give us oxygen to take home saying “We don’t do that on Sundays.”!
My mom was so afraid for her life that she signed herself out. The “covid dr” begged her to stay. We fought with him & the nurse for hours. The nurse actually said “We’re not trying to kill her!” which we never accused them of until we found out more information from my moms medical records. The nurse also said “It’s gonna look SO bad for us if she goes out to the parking lot & dies”!!! Well she ALMOST died right at the exit of the hospital…right in front of my 2 small children! My 7 yr old daughter & my 4 yr old son! Her grandchildren that she was begging to get home to!
The nurse “accidentally” hit her wheelchair into the stationary side of the revolving door because, I think, the nurse was so distracted by seeing my kids, asking me in an accusing voice “Are those your kids” which jolted my mom & set her body into convulsions by the time we got to the outside of the revolving door. We watched as her body was so overtaken by the jolt & the drugs they gave her to kill her that her body started convulsing & she turned gray. We all screamed in horror, including my sweet little ones. This brings me to tears every day as I have a flashback. We were SO close to getting the kids just ONE more hug to say goodbye to their beloved grandmother.
The nurses then turned her wheelchair around & powerwalked to the ER & screamed at me the whole way to ventilate her. They coded her in the trauma room, she was coherent & refused again to be ventilated. We refused as well & they suggested we let her go peacefully & that they would “make her as comfortable as possible”. I was terrified that they would TORTURE her for weeks or months if we ventilated. They refused to take her back to the ICU. There was no “room” for her at the hospital, they wanted nothing to do with her. But I knew I could not get her home. Her body would not allow it.
So I made the horrific, nightmarish choice to have them make her comfortable. It was the complete opposite of “comfortable”. I still can’t get it out of my head.. My husband & I watched her take her last breaths for over an hr in the trauma room. We felt the most potent, evil presence in that room & hospital that still gives me nightmares & chills. 2 days after she passed there was a horrific, horizontal bolt of lightning over top of the hospital that was posted in the local newspaper! Interesting!
